Caution: This post contains profanity. A friend linked this on Facebook today, saying that the equality women want is far from in our hands. After reading the post and the twitter replies, I got so angry I had to express myself/rant. This is the result:
What pains me about these replies isn’t even the content of what they’re saying, it’s the tone. These boys have no respect for women whatsoever.
‘You’re overreacting, who needs women in a men’s world, boobs, men are better than women, oh you want us to do that for you now that you’re pouting and putting on a sad face?’
Fuck that. Women can do anything and everything equally as good as men, albeit in a different way, but we get shit done. We don’t overreact, we fucking express ourselves. If women aren’t important tell that to your mother, your sister, your girlfriend or wife, or the countless women you hit on each night just to get shot down because you’re a disrespectful sob.
Gender equality is impossible, because men and women are different animals. However I don’t think equal rights and mutual respect is that much to ask. There are no excuses for the behavior these boys have shown. I know men who grew up in environments destined to hate women and they turned out to be the ones that have shown me how to respect myself as a woman, there is no excuse. None.
